Tiger Eye--Tiger Iron

 




Asbestos that has been replaced with iron-bearing quartz, leaving the fibrous appearance behind and creating the "eye" or chatoyant effect. Comes in several colors, the most common being yellowish brown. Rarely is the stone blue or gray.  If so, then is called "Falcon's Eye" or "Hawk's Eye". The red is often heat-treated and sometimes called "Cherry Tiger Eye".

Naturally occurring mixture of bands and whorls of Golden Tiger Eye, Red Jasper and Hematite.

Mystical Properties:  Widely thought to promote self-confidence and self-assurance, Creative endeavors, artistic abilities, mathematical exactitude,  improve stamina and be especially important for those whose daily lives require a lot of physical exertion.
