Bloodstone

Green jasper dotted with spots of iron oxide. The red flecks are important, the more are found, the more effective the action of the stone. The mineral totem for the "Ducks Fly Moon" (September 23- October 22). 

Hardness: 6.5-7.

Character:  Grounding;  Renewal; Revitalization; “Be here now”;  Adaptability, Strength, Unselfishness; Calm

 

Mystical/Emotional:    

v Encourages good relationships, friendships, harmony, empathy,  creative efforts, decision making; admittance and communication to spiritual realms of ancestors, confidence. Thought to instill courage, strength and power to the wearer. Heighten intuition.

v Increases adaptability and organization, and lessens confusion and anxiety.

v Helps release emotional traumas and grief and in “re-framing” the past.

v Banish evil and negativity.

v Can also smooth the way with legal issues.

v The greener varieties are associated with money and wealth. If put in the cash drawer of any business, is said to draw a steady flow of money.

Physical:

o   Associated with stemming hemorrhages and nose bleeds.

o   Thought to heal blood diseases and "purify" the blood. Women wore to prevent miscarriage and hemorrhaging during childbirth. The redder varieties were thought lucky for soldiers going into battle.
